We have been very busy this week in Year 5. We have been testing our ‘working scientifically’ skills by experimenting, hypothesising and predicting.

We tested our ability to design, make and evaluate catapults using lollipop sticks, elastic bands and plastic spoons. We found that the trick was to have a strong tension so that they play dough would by flung into the cup. We then tested how pressure causes a boiled egg to be ‘sucked’ into a glass jar. After that, we tested how forces align and cause eggs to fall perfectly in glasses because of gravity.
