At Moorgate we place the highest priority on the safeguarding of children in our care to ensure that we promote the health, well-being and safety of the children at all times.
Safeguarding is the responsibility of us all and therefore all staff know the policies and procedures related to safeguarding which is visited annually. Every school is required to have a designated lead for safeguarding (DSL) and at Moorgate that is:-
Mrs D Hopwood (Headteacher).
We wish to work with parents and carers to ensure the best possible care for children. On occasion, a situation may arise when we have a cause for concern, where it appears or is reported to a member of school staff that there is a safeguarding concern around a child. Moorgate school is required as part of Bolton’s child protection procedures to report their concerns and take advice from Children’s Services immediately. In these cases, parents and carers will always be informed prior to the safeguarding team contacting Children’s Services, unless it is considered that such an action would place the child at further risk.
Moorgate school also receives notification from the Police via Operation Encompass when they have attended a domestic violence incident at an address where one of our children is a resident. All staff are aware of ‘The First Five Minutes’ document.
